28th Nov 2017

Hello!

Here is some Sore Fingers news along with an update on how the Easter 2018 bookings are going. It’s still early days but things are moving forward.

Mandolin – Matt Flinner, Guitar - Courtney Hartman and O.T.Banjo – Chris Coole are just about full!

I am in the process of recruiting more tutors but I did have a quick breakthrough with Allison De Groot who is touring in the UK and Ireland with Bruce Molsky’s Mountain Drifters. She’s agreed to come and run a second O.T. Banjo class. Great news.

I have enquiries out for Guitar and Mandolin and will keep you posted.

We have finally got ourselves a US banjo tutor to work alongside Leon Hunt, Bill Evans. He makes a welcome return after several years absence. Hope that opens up the floodgates for banjo players, we’ve got two great tutors!

I’ll get all new details up on the website shortly.

Alex Hargreaves is coming along nicely with about half a class at present. This will be great class, he’s a genius. Keep booking.

Phil Doleman will be taking his first April class teaching Ukulele.

Classes that could do with a boost are Bluegrass fiddle Brian Wicklund), Bass (Todd Phillips), Singing, Emily Miller/Jesse Milnes and Dobro (Ivan Rosenberg).

Full confirmed line up so far is:

In other news:

We are having a big clear up of our Sore Fingers Message board. It will be the place to get official info about the event in future. Please help us out by responding to our requests to confirm that you are receiving messages. It’s a long and tedious job but we have to do it.

The message board is the most secure and “spam free” way of communicating with you as a group. You won’ get adverts, the system doesn’t monitor your movements and messages are delivered direct to your own inbox just like any other email.

We are very anxious to remove anyone who doesn’t want to be on the group too. There’s nothing worse than bothering people with information they don’t want. So, either way, please let us know.

Finally, Jason Titley who is an S.F. regular presents a couple of radio shows on Spectrum Internet Radio:

Every Tuesday night from 7 till 8pm. Lots of great music that S.F. students will enjoy.
Also, on Thursday nights, 7pm till 9pm, it’s Jason and a guest. This week, Nov 30th, it’s Leon hunt presenting an hour of his favourite music. That’s a must listen to show!

That’s all for now.

See you soon

John, Moira and the team.
