October Weekend 2023 - Latest!
12th Oct 2023
Hey folks,
Just ten seven days to go before we meet again at wonderful Kingham Hill School for the shorter but no less exciting Sore Fingers October Weekend!
So, here are a few late pointers….
We have places on all courses except Banjo with Ron Block. We could do with a few more Bass, Dobro and Beginners. The rest of the classes have attracted respectable numbers but there is still plenty of space.
If you plan to book, please do so at the earliest opportunity as it’s much easier for us to deal with bookings before the coming weekend. After that, its chaos here at S.F Towers - getting everything ready and loading it onto a truck and take to Kingham.
That said, we can accept bookings right up until the first day of classes on Sat 21st October if there are spaces (see above). But please don’t leave it that late if you can avoid it! You can also “just turn up” and pay on arrival by 9am Saturday 21st Morning if push comes to shove but it can be a bit chaotic trying do it like that. So, the moral here is to try and get your booking in by this coming weekend (14th/15th Oct) if at all possible.
Go to the Bookings page and download a form from there.
Just a reminder of what’s on offer this year: We have a great line up of UK talent spiced up with a couple of the world’s greatest banjo players, Ron Block and Mitch Depew!
BANJO - RON BLOCK – CLASS FULLY BOOKED
BASS – PETER EARLE
BEGINNERS – ED HICKS (NEW COURSE!)
CHORO – MIKE PRYOR AND DAVE GRIFFITHS (NEW COURSE!)
DOBRO – CHRIS EATON
FIDDLE – JAY BRADBERRY
GUITAR – ANDY QUELCH
MANDOLIN – MIKE GIVERIN
MUSIC DEVELOPMENT – TREVOR HYETT
OLD TIME BANJO – MITCH DEPEW
OLD TIME FIDDLE – EMILY SMITH
SINGING – ROLAND EMMANUEL
SONGWRITING - SUE POMEROY (NEW COURSE!)
UKULELE - PERCY COPLEY
That deals with the classes, but the fun doesn’t stop there, these super musicians will be getting their acts together to perform in a concert on Saturday night and there’s all the other stuff going on, electives, jamming, meeting old and making new friends…. You can’t beat it, it’s an experience one really must consume at least once although there is a definite danger of becoming addicted to Sore Fingers like many of our loyal regulars.
We look forward to greeting you all at Kingham in just 7 days or so.
John, Moira and the team
