September Update & October Weekend
ks! Just back from Gower Bluegrass festival and with Moniaive the only remaining festival of the season, the darker nights of autumn are looming. But no need to be depressed, we’ve got the Sore Fingers October Weekend coming up very soon and it is always a lovely chilled event that will keep your spirits up through the winter gloom.
Moira, myself and the team look forward to meeting up with you again at Kingham Hill School at the end of October SORE FINGERS OCTOBER WEEKEND 2022
The dates are Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd October 2022 at the usual venue, Kingham Hill School. We have a full programme of courses. All the detail is on our website courses page at this link: https://www.sorefingers.co.uk/coursedetail.php?id=22
There are still plenty of places on all courses and we have a stellar line up of tutors.
Moira has produced a couple of nice little posters with all the course listings for both October and Easter. They are attached to this email. Please feel free to distribute them to anyone you know who might be interested or take them to your local gathering places.
This year we have added a Ukulele class run by the redoubtable Percy Copley by popular request and also a new Music Development Class: Andy MacKenzie is running a session entitled “In Search of the Lost Chord”. There’s no better person to explain than the man himself and he has prepared a short video at this link: https://youtu.be/pUmyhauAg2w so have a butchers.
The general idea of the class is to introduce students gently to the world of theory and solve some mysteries about why the things you already know work so instinctively. This class will show you how to add passing chords and such embellishments to simple three chord tunes and songs. Don’t be afraid and, NO, you don’t need to read music to take part and learn! It’s open to all instrumentalists and singers.
This is along with the usual classes you regularly find at Sore Fingers taught by the best players in the UK. You can find out much more on the website and we look forward to seeing you at Kingham Hill School this autumn.
Lots more information is on the website at: www.sorefingers.co.uk
Oh, and by the way, on a fashion note why not invest in some of our chic SFSS fashion gear. See our latest collection at: www.workkit.co.uk/products/customer-shops/sfss.
Not only will you look good, but you will be helping SFSS make a few pounds to contribute funding towards encouraging young players to attend the event and get the best tuition experience this side of the Atlantic Ocean!
