A bit of Funding Required
Continuing uncertainty and the general economic climate find our sponsorship funding pot is almost bare. One regular sponsor has pulled out altogether and, despite continued support from the BBMA and Daddario, their contributions have been used up and we still have two or three deserving students wishing to attend the April 2024 event who are not in a position to afford the course and accommodation costs unsupported.
So, again we are appealing for individual contributions. Last year, we made a similar appeal and were absolutely astounded that we managed to fund three people on the proceeds of your generosity.
We would be most grateful for any donation you can make.
Please consider donating what you can - we don’t care how much: £10.00 here £20.00 there, it all helps.
The easiest was to donate is by bank transfer, the details are below and please reference your transfer with YOUR
NAME prefixed by the letters “SPON”

Sort-code: 30-98-97
Account No: 47972463

Tutor and Course News
Bluegrass Banjo: Sadly, we must announce that alas, due to circumstances beyond his control Jeff Scroggins has most regretfully had to pull out of teaching at Sore Fingers this year. Happily, and at such short notice, a great replacement tutor in the shape of GABE HIRSHFELD is available and we’re delighted to have him take over Jeffs class. Gabe is a graduate of the American Roots Music Program at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He came to teach last year for the first time and captured our hearts with his beautiful crystal-clear playing, witty stories, warm personality and skilfully constructed tuition. We’re really pleased to have him back again and if you missed him last time around there are still a few places left on the class if you’re quick.
Old Time Banjo: As Allison’s De Groot’s class is now oversubscribed, we are delighted to announce a second Old Time Banjo Class led by LUKAS POOL
Many of you have expressed interest in this second O. T. Banjo class so now is the time to get your bookings in ASAP to avoid disappointment. Lucas is a very popular instructor who comes highly recommended. He is a great addition to the team – see his bio on the Sore Fingers Web Site
https://www.sorefingers.co.uk/tutors.php?id=25 .
Mandolin: Joe Walsh is confirmed as the second mandolin tutor. Need we say more? He’s a star teacher and performer so don’t miss out. All you need to do to enjoy his talent is book your place before it’s too late. There are less than eight places left.
Ukulele Class Now to be A Double Header
Four hands are better than two! The Ukulele course is now just one course with two tutors! A Sore Fingers first!!
Phil Doleman will lead the week, with his fine techniques and music, from jazz to blues, jug band to country, while being assisted by Percy Copley, with rhythms, chords and all those things you need help with.
Working together or separately Phil and Percy will take you further on your ukulele journey. Rhythm and melody to create an ensemble sound, techniques for fingerpicking and strumming, chord sequences, and lots of fun.
A big part of SF is playing with other people, so they will have other instruments to help build your jam style and join jams around the campus, and beyond. Learn to hear and feel chord changes, how to transpose, how to keep a steady rhythm with others, and so on…
Don’t miss this chance of a Sore Fingers double header tutor duo.
A flexible and intensive week to keep those fingers proper sore!
Guitar Thank you to all the guitar students who booked after our last update. Stash’s class has rallied a little and there are only 8 places left.
Music Development New Class Intro Video
Baffled about this course called “music Development”? Well, your tutors Andy MacKenzie and Mike Pryor, and members of “The Plateau Busters” have been talking about this and produced this friendly video to tell you more about it.
