LESS THAN A MONTH TO GET YOUR BOOKINGS IN

7th Oct 2024

Less than a month to go until we launch into the increasingly popular Sore Fingers October Weekend (SFOWE). (Arrive Friday 25th Oct from 3pm - Depart Sun 27th Oct by 5pm)

We need to get your bookings in as soon as possible now so we can negotiate with Kingham Hill School (KHS) about what accommodation will be required.
Keep the bookings coming – we carry on taking bookings right up until the last minute because we understand some people cannot commit until their own arrangements can be confirmed but if you can book sooner, it is much appreciated and helps smooth the organisation pathways.

This year as usual we have a Brilliant Best of British line up of instructors who are all eager to welcome you. However, bookings are slow in some areas:

Both fiddle classes are surprisingly slow to book considering the high quality of instructors we have:

Old Time Fiddle is being led by Jeri Foreman. Here is a YouTube video of her performance recently at the Crossover Festival. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs6rPZkefbM
She also featured at Sweet Sunny South and several other Old-Time inclusive events this year.
She studied several fiddle styles in depth and holds a degree in classical violin. Her teaching philosophy is to try to use repertoire that students love, in order to teach good technique and music theory. She especially enjoys teaching style and tune form.
This is a “not to be missed” chance to get some lengthy up-close instruction from this highly adept purveyor of Old Time Fiddle.

Bluegrass Fiddle is being led by Nils Kreiger and samples of his playing can be experienced at this link to his band performances with “The Often Herd” https://www.theoftenherd.com/media . Niles is an experienced, enthusiastic performer and teacher of Bluegrass Style Fiddling. He is highly in demand as a teacher both in his home territory in the Northeast of England as well as many other venues throughout Britain and Europe. Again, don’t pass up the chance of some intensive instruction from this masterly professional.

Other Classes which could do with some boosting are:

DOBRO – Laura Carrivick - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw1hpsQFsv0 – Take the chance to spend some time with her face to face and develop your playing.

BASS – Sam Rose - Here is Sam playing bass with his band Hot Rock Pilgrims https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRjyas7TEG8 . Sam is another consummate professional, committed musician and experienced teacher

UKULELE – Percy Copley – Well, what can one say about Percy? Highly Talented multi-instrumentalist with a special fondness for UKULELES. An excellent teacher who is also friendly and funny. There’s never a dull moment in his class.

MUSIC DEVELOPMENT – Trevor Hyett – Has a lot of experience to share and has put together a programme of material to help you on the way through your musical journey. Here is a link to his web site to get a tint of this colourful character.

There is also still some space available on the following:

BLUEGRASS BANJO – Chris Lord
GUITAR – Charlotte Carrivick
MANDOLIN – Evan Davies
OLD TIME FIDDLE – Ed Hicks
SINGING – Roger Jackson

So, whatever takes your fancy there’s still something for everyone.
